Top Things To Do In Trogir, Croatia

Trogir, magnificent and often overlooked. Trogir is nestled on a tiny island, and is reminiscent of a smaller Dubrovnik. Of all of the Old Towns in Croatia, Trogir was the most chill. 

Start your experience in Trogir by walking through the city gates that date back to the 15 century, and then venture into the Old Town. There are many alleyways for you to get lost in. Windowshop as you wander among the winding alleyways and admire the unique Dalmatian jewelry in the various jewelry shops. 


Seaside Promenade.


There are many notable attractions for you to see in Trogir including: 

  • Cathedral of St. Lawrence - built in the 12 Century. 

    • A UNESCO site and the most imposing structure in Trogir. 

  • Trogir Clock Tower - built in the 14th Century. 

  • St. Dominic Monastery - built in the 13th Century. 

  • Church of St. Peter - built in the 13th Century. 

  • Kamerlengo Castle - built in the 15th Century. 

    • Built by the Venetians to expand the defense of the town. 

  • St. Marks Tower - built in the 15 Century. 

    • A Defensive structure that was built to protect the town. 



Once you have exhausted your time in the Old Town, take some time and walk along the seaside promenade. The promenade offers some beautiful views of the mainland. Sit on a bench or enjoy an espresso at a seaside cafe. 

There are a variety of beaches located on the Trogir Riviera. There is Okrung Gornji, Labadusa, Zen, Slatine, Duga, Kava Slatine, and Kava all located on Ciovo Island. If you want to go to Ciovo Island there is a ferry located on the seaside promenade of Trogir where you can purchase tickets for 10 kuna. The ferries run in 15 min intervals during peak season. If you do not want to board a ferry then there is Bucevica, Seget Donji, and Patan Beach located on the mainland of Croatia near Trogir. 



In short, Trogir is great for a day trip, and was a great pit stop in our Balkan road trip to break up a long drive. It is worth your time if you have the time.
