San Jose
Airport
Upon arriving in Costa Rica we got an international sim card with enough data for our 2 week stay. The kiosk for international sim cards is right by the baggage claim. You cannot miss it. They will change out your sim card for you. Just make sure your phone is unlocked.
Tip: You can get an international travel plan with your phone provider if you do not want to bother with the hassle of getting an international sim card. Just call your phone provider and they will be able to assist you.
Car Rental
After getting our luggage my wife and I ferried a bus to the car rental agency. At the time I did not have a credit card so I had to pay more than I was quoted for online. I had to get full coverage because I had a debit card. If I had a credit card I could have paid for what I was originally quoted for.
Tip: Get a travel credit card so you can accumulate points for rewards. Paying with a debit card will cost you exponentially more money.
Food
After arriving at our Airbnb we desired a bite to eat. We decided to go to one of the places our Airbnb host recommended, Tandur Pizza. We would soon come to learn that Costa Rica knows how to do brick oven pizza. Tandur is a great stop if you find yourself in San Jose.
Tip: Always ask the locals for food recommendations. They know the best places that will be devoid of other tourists.
Recuperation
We had been married less than 24 hours and were exhausted. We went to bed early and slept for 16 hours. One of the highlights of our trip was waking up in the middle of the night and making our way to the porch to look at the San Josue lights at night. It was at that moment, I was finally able to realize I was on my honeymoon with my new wife and that we would have some fun filled days ahead of us in Costa Rica.
